A teenage girl from Yorba Linda who was reportedly missing for more than a month was found safe Thursday in Los Angeles County, authorities said. The girl’s mother confirmed she was found in Long Beach.

“I would like to thank all of you who helped with the case,” her mother, Valanitta Jingles, said. “Without you shining a light on this case, she would not have been [found].”

Officials did not immediately respond to a request for more information on exactly where and how the girl was found.

The saga began on May 5, when 15-year-old Nya Jingles got into an argument with her family, who had placed restrictions on her due to her multiple disabilities and mental health issues, for which she takes medication, her mother Valanitta Jingles said after her disappearance. Out of frustration, Nya left the home in Yorba Linda after 8 p.m. and began what police say was a seven-hour trek on foot to Westminster Mall, according to her mother.

A day later, security cameras recorded her talking to employees at a Sky Zone located at the mall. She allegedly asked employees from the Sky Zone for help ordering a driver through a ride-sharing app such as Uber, Valanitta said. Nya could not order a ride herself since users have to be 18 to make an account, said Navided Forghani, a spokesperson with Uber, who could not confirm at the time whether the 15-year-old actually took an Uber that night.

Nya’s last known whereabouts came on May 6 sometime after 10 p.m., when she allegedly got into a car from a ride-sharing company and made her way to Success Work Academy, her mother’s private school in Long Beach. She was dropped off at the school at around 10:49 p.m., according to Valanitta, but she was nowhere to be found.

For several weeks, Valanitta wondered what more she could have done to help her daughter, even creating a Facebook page dedicated to locating Nya. It was called. “Find Nya Jingles.” She searched all over for Nya, creating missing posters on social media, urging anyone with the smallest bit of information that would lead her to find her daughter to call her.

And on Thursday, Valanitta was reunited with her daughter.
