The fourth annual Youth Opportunities Fair will be held this Thursday at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center from 3:00-7:00pm, and hosted by the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network. Anyone between the ages of 14 and 24 is welcome to attend and talk about employment or internship opportunities. Various companies and non-profit agencies will be represented and looking for potential employees.
“Work-ready youth are encouraged to come dressed for success and with several copies of their resumes in hand,” said Rick Gonzalez, Youth Opportunity Center Manager. “Approximately 50 businesses, ranging from Balley’s Total Fitness to the US Border Patrol, and 25 organizations that provide youth development and volunteer/service learning opportunities will be participating.”
Younger youth can learn about unpaid and paid internships, volunteer/ service learning opportunities, and various training opportunities.
Other participating employers include Coca Cola, Knotts Berry Farm, UPS, VONS, Sea Port Marina Hotel, Aquarium of the Pacific, KFC, the Long Beach Public Library, Valero Refinery and the US Border Patrol, which has 3,000 positions available.
