Good morning and welcome to Monday Morning Coffee! It’s time to find out what this week will bring — grab your coffee and let’s get to it.
City meetings
- Don’t expect the Equity and Human Relations Commission to meet this week, as their Wednesday session is canceled. Similar cancellations have been called for the city’s Economic Development Commission as well as its subcommittee on revolving loans.
- Expect a packed agenda at the Long Beach City Council meeting this week (Sept. 3), including discussion of a multi-million dollar contract with Ocean Blue for waste removal services and an audit on the Long Beach Airport’s Passenger Facility Charges program. The Council will also consider recognizing Sept. 8 as “908 Day,” a citywide day of celebration. The meeting will commence Tuesday at 5 p.m. inside the Civic Chambers.
- Prior to the City Council, the Long Beach Budget Oversight Committee will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday to hear presentations on the Grow Long Beach development campaign and the potential earnings from tax measures placed on the November 2024 ballot.
- Several reports will come before the city’s Planning Commission scheduled Tuesday at 1 p.m. inside the Civic Chambers. These include approval of a site plan review and permitting the construction of a five-story, 75-unit building and renovation of an existing 14-story office building into residential units.
- The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Sept. 3 meeting is canceled. Supervisors will next convene on Sept. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
