Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Long Beach Post!

We are so grateful for your story tips, your advice and feedback, your financial support, and all the incredible stories we had the privilege of telling in 2024.

This week we’ll be sharing some of our most impactful work, including these heart-warming videos featuring local artists, chefs and more.

We are also so proud to have hosted four interns from Cal State Long Beach this fall, who produced video, audio and stories ahead of the election on Nov. 5. They did amazing work, and we look forward to growing and expanding this internship program to help train and mentor the next generation of journalists.

Those who donated to Long Beach Gives in September helped us launch the program, with a huge assist from Board Member Danny Lemos, director of Long Beach Public Radio.

Our goal this coming year is to grow our staff to further expand the Long Beach Business Journal and to increase our coverage of education.

In early 2025 we’ll be doing some additional surveys and in-person gatherings to hear from both our supporters, and those who don’t (yet) support us in order to learn how we can improve. We’ll also be soliciting perspectives and opinions from residents tied to specific issues that will be consequential in 2025.

The aim of all this — both our journalism and our engagement — is to create a gathering place where residents know they can find trusted, fact-based information, and learn about the people who make Long Beach special.

If you can support this work, now is the perfect time: Your tax-deductible donation is doubled through Dec. 31 (just one week away!), thanks to a matching gift.

Again, thank you so much for your continued generosity; this first year as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit newsroom would not have been possible without you!

Sincerely,

Melissa Evans, CEO
