Long Beach, 5 other cities could pilot speed enforcement cameras under proposed bill

If the bill passes, the cities would be allowed to create pilot programs to install speed cameras in school zones and areas with a history of serious crashes or speeding problems.

Long Beach to resume utility shutoffs in August for customers with unpaid bills

Developer blames alleged city glitch for stymying proposal to turn Fire Station 9 into affordable housing

The proposal would convert the inside of the former station into three two-bedroom apartments with the back of the station possibly being left open as a community space. The units would be reserved for people living in the city who need time to save up money to move onto more market-rate units or even purchase a home.
