The music, the storyline, and the ocean breeze come together to make it the perfect getaway voyage.
On Thursday, August 20, Long Beach Symphony invites audiences to experience Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in Concert Live to Film, the inaugural event of its new SoundWaves Series at the spectacular F&M Bank Amphitheater on the Long Beach waterfront. As the beloved film plays on the giant screen, the Symphony performs every exhilarating note of Klaus Badelt’s and Hans Zimmer’s iconic score live and in perfect synchronization with the movie. It’s a one-night-only experience beneath the stars that combines the excitement of cinema with the power of a live orchestra in an immersive setting.
Before Captain Jack sets sail, you can too. Your Evening is All Mapped Out and Ready for the First Note
If you’ve been wondering how to get to the new venue, Long Beach Symphony has taken the guesswork out of planning your evening. Its new “Map Your Voyage” guide brings together everything you need to know—from transportation and parking to venue information and arrival tips—so you can spend less time planning and more time enjoying the adventure.
The journey begins with Free Parking at the Aquarium of the Pacific, included with your ticket purchase. A few steps from there at Dock 2, set sail aboard Harbor Breeze to arrive by water. Sip & Sail, just as any pirate would. And like any good captain, guarantee your spot by making a reservation. Cruise for $10 each way. Children under 14 travel free with adult purchase. The vessel will make mid-concert trips should you need to return early.
Prefer to leave the driving behind? Long Beach Transit will provide complimentary shuttle service from the Michelle Obama and Mark Twain libraries to the harbor docks at the Aquarium.
Cyclists are welcome, too, with complimentary bicycle valet service available at the Amphitheater’s west entrance. You can also trek from the Aquarium with a 1.2 mile walk to the Amphitheater and make a reservation on the Harbor Breeze for your return.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., giving families plenty of time to enjoy pre-concert entertainment and activities before the film begins. Children can explore interactive experiences, including Long Beach Symphony’s popular Instrument Petting Zoo, while adults soak in the waterfront atmosphere and discover one of Southern California’s newest outdoor performance venues.
The evening isn’t only about watching a movie. It’s about experiencing it in an entirely new way. Every sword fight, every dramatic escape, and every triumphant moment is elevated by the energy of a live orchestra performing the score exactly as it unfolds on screen. Even longtime fans of the film often describe hearing the music performed live as discovering the story all over again.
As Long Beach Symphony celebrates its 92nd season, SoundWaves represents an exciting new chapter in its mission to bring world-class music to audiences in fresh and engaging ways. Whether you’re a lifelong symphony patron, a Disney fan, or simply looking for an unforgettable summer night out, this event promises a truly unique Long Beach experience.
