Reports From LBSU
Long Beach State track & field head coach Andy Sythe has announced the signing of twin brothers Dillon and Justin Fox to National Letters of Intent. Dillon and Justin will join the 49ers for the 2010-11 season.
The duo hails from Carlsbad, Calif., and attended La Costa Canyon High School where they competed primarily in the pole vault under coach Brooke LeBue.
Dillon recently tied for third at the CIF State Track & Field Championships after clearing a lifetime-best 15-09 in the finals. He also won the Avocado League and CIF San Diego Section title in May. Dillon will also look to contribute in the decathlon for the 49ers.
Justin, meanwhile, is a well-rounded athlete who established a personal-record 14-10 in the pole vault. He also has strong credentials in the hurdles and high jump and will look to be a factor in the decathlon at The Beach.
“Both Dillon and Justin bring a hunger to get better,” said Sythe. “They will continue to develop in their strong area, the pole vault, but the challenge of the decathlon is also something that appeals to them.”
Dillon and Justin join Thomas Garner (Hurdles), Braden Keller (Throws) and Heath Reedy (Distances) to make up the 49er men’s track & field incoming class.
