Senior distance runner Missy Barclay (San Diego, Calif.) has been named to the 2009-10 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII Second Team the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Barclay has etched her name in the 49er record books in her four years at The Beach. She established an indoor school-record 4:53.57 in the mile as a sophomore and is also a member of the distance medley relay team that holds the third-fastest mark in LBSU history (12:08.64).
On the outdoor all-time top 10 list, Barclay ranks fourth in the 1500m (4:27.62) and fifth in the 3000m steeplechase (11:26.64).
Barclay, who was selected as a team captain as a senior, was also an NCAA West Regional qualifier in the 1500m in 2009.
During the cross country season in the fall, Barclay ran a personal-record 21:01 to finish in eighth place at the conference championships, earning her All-Big West honors.
Barclay was selected to the USTFCCCA National All-Academic Team in 2009. She is also a two-time Big West and MPSF all-academic selection.
