Jordan starting pitcher Roger Hockenson held down the Lakewood offense for three innings, but it’s not the most potent line up in the league for nothing. The Lancers scored in all the remaining innings on their way to an 11-1 win.
Lakewood was sparked by the top of the order, specifically JP Crawford (3-5 2-2B, 2R, SB) and Tyler Schultz (3-4 2B, 3R, RBI, SB). Hunter Jones paced a potent Lancer running game with two stolen bases. That makes 32 bags for the senior this season, which is also a Lancer team record.
Starting pitcher Jeff Yamaguchi pitched five innings for Lakewood and allowed no runs on two hits, four walks and five strikeouts. Hockenson went six innings and struck out five, while Robert Hurtado led the offense (2-3, 3B, R, SB) and scored the only Panther run on an RBI single by Hockenson. Hurtado dedicated his final game on the Jordan High baseball field to his brother, who is still recovering from being struck by a comebacker last week.
