The Long Beach State men’s golf team recorded a 299 in the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate for a 54-hole total of 903 (+51) to finish in 14th place.

Twenty-ninth ranked LSU claimed the team title as the Tigers finished the day with a 279 for an 845 (-7) to hold a one-stroke lead over No. 34 Wake Forest (846) and a three-strokes over No. 18 Virginia (848).

Sophomore Kevin Roy was the top player for the 49ers as he recorded a final round of 72 for a 224 (+11) to tie for 55th, followed by senior Robbie Berton as he shot a 75 to tie for 60th for a 226 (+13).

Senior Steve Gibson tied for 65th with a 78 for a 229 (+16), followed by freshman Raymond Ho in 70th with an 81 for a 231 (+18) and fellow classmate Benjamin Lein finishing in 71st as he shot a 74 for a 232 (+19).

Matt Hill of North Carolina State claimed the individual medalist with a nine-under 204 to hold a two-stroke lead over Lee Bedford of Wake Forest as he soared from 18th to record a tournament low of 63.

The 49ers return to action as they travel to Northern California for the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University, Apr. 11-13.
