TONIGHT IN LONG BEACH: MOORE LEAUGE BASEBALL PREVIEW
Lakewood vs. Wilson, Blair Field @ 6:30pm
The second half of the double header at Blair tonight will be one of the most well-attended regular season high school baseball games in recent history. Why? Rivalry! The No. 1 ranked Lancers are coming off a big Moore League opening win over the Millikan Rams, and they will send sophomore Shane Watson to the mound to try and keep the 11-game win streak alive. Much of the Wilson baseball team was at the Millikan/Lakewood game since they had the bye on Wednesday, so they saw how hard the Lancers can hit the ball even against some of the best pitching in the league. The Bruins know they’ll need a huge game from sophomore pitcher Chase Dejong to stay with the normally high-scoring Lancers. This one might just come down to which sophomore pitcher can stay on the bump longer.

The game will be aired at 6:20 with a pre game show and interviews with both coaches. In addition, it’ll be heard on 87.9 FM inside the ballpark. The archive broadcast will be posted on the same page the following morning. A post game show complete with player of the game interview and highlights will also be available. Poly vs. Millikan, Blair Field @ 3:30pm
The Jackrabbits and Rams couldn’t be coming from more different places. Poly came back in the last at-bat to beat Cabrillo on Wednesday while the Rams couldn’t quite catch Lakewood in an afternoon thriller. The Jackrabbits will have to shuffle the bullpen since they played Carson yesterday, and the Rams will send Matt Clampitt to the hill. With these two teams going scoreless for much of Wednesday’s games, expect defense and avoiding errors to play a big role in the result. Or, it could be an offensive explosion. It’s the first week, what do we know?!
Cabrillo vs. Compton, MLB Field @ 6:30
The Tarbabes are still riding high after their victory over Jordan that has them tied for first place in the Moore League for the first time in a long time. On the other end of the spectrum, much like the Poly/Millikan tilt, the Jaguars are trying to forget the final inning at home against Poly.
