The Long Beach City College softball team suffered a tough 11-0 five-inning non-conference loss to visiting Riverside Community College on Thursday at LBCC.
The loss was the Vikings’ fifth in a row and dropped them to 14-12 overall this season.
Long Beach’s bats went cold once again as the Vikings were shutout and held to just three hits for the second straight game.
Riverside pounded out 11 hits and broke the game open with a seven-run, six-hit outburst in the top of the fourth inning.
Freshman Jessica Davis (6-3) picked up the loss for LBCC. She allowed three runs, three hits, and walked three in 3+ innings.
Freshmen Brittney Holden (double), Karina Veit, and Melissa Schaeffer had the lone hits for Long Beach.
Reylene Coronado (7-5) went the distance in the win for Riverside (16-10). She allowed three hits, struck out one, and walked none. Olivia Wilcox led the Tigers at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a double and 4 RBI.
Long Beach returns to action this weekend (Mar 27-28) when it will compete at the Ventura College tournament.
