Rachel Manasse picked up Long Beach State’s lone win as the 49ers lost to Ohio State 6-1 on Tuesday. Long Beach State returns to the Rhodes Tennis Center to play Washington State on Thursday.
The 49ers were swept in the doubles point to start the day, with Deborah Armstrong and Anais Dallaraplaying the closest match, falling 8-4.
In singles, Rachel Manasse defeated Christina Keesey 6-1, 6-2, but the Buckeyes closed out the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, along with a loss by Jaklin Alawi to No. 51 Kirsten Flower at No. 1 singles.
Deborah Armstrong forced a third set with Kelsey Haviland in the final match of the day, but fell 7-6 (3), 2-6, 10-7 in the super-tiebreaker.
Long Beach State finishes a 10-match homestand on Thursday, hosting Washington State at 2 p.m. in the Rhodes Tennis Center.
