Long Beach State recorded a 23-over par 311 in Tuesday’s final round of the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational to finish in ninth place. The 49ers completed the 54-hole tournament with a 922 (+58) at the Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose.

No. 14 ranked California captured the team title with an 899 (+35) as the Golden Bears held off No. 26 UC Davis (901) by two strokes and tournament host No. 36 San Jose State (903) by four.

Noelle Zavaleta was the top player for The Beach as she carded a five-over 77 in the final round for a 229 (+13) to tie for 21st. Zavaleta recorded five bogeys and one double-bogey for the day with just two birdies coming in at the No. 1 and 18th holes.

Finishing just one-stroke behind was Lindsey McAtee as she shot an identical score of 77 for a 230 (+14) to tie for 24th.

Monica Villarreal came away with a 78 in the final round for a 231 (+15) to tie for 26th, while Reina Rogersrecorded a 79 to finish with a 233 (+17) to tie for 36th.

Simone Hoey tied for 38th with a 79 to finish the tournament with a 234 (+18).

Christina Corpus of San Jose State won the individual medalist with a 217 (+1) and held onto a two-shot lead over Demi Runas of UC Davis with a 219 and Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State with a 220.

The 49ers return to action in two weeks as they take part in the Anteater Invitational hosted by UC Irvine, Mar. 29-30, at the Dove Canyon Country Club in Dove Canyon, Calif.
