The Poly Jackrabbits won the game at the free throw line and outlasted a relentless Compton Tarbabes team, 66-61, to finish the regular season perfect at 12-0. Poly’s Alexis Moore pulled down the game winning rebound after Compton (9-3) trailed 64-61 with two seconds to play, and Martise Mixon’s game-tying attempt spun out. Moore added a team-high 18 points and sparked an 8-0 run in the third quarter that changed the game.
Compton’s Cliff Sims had a game-high 23 points and his two free throws late brought the Tarbabes to within three points, but Mixon couldn’t get the three ball to stay down. Guard Allen Guei chipped in with 14 points while Ryan Anderson scored eight points. Compton sophomore Anthony January scored 13 points and Poly freshman Roshcon Prince scored 16 points.
