It was four years in the making after a National Championship kicked it off, and now the most successful Wilson soccer class of seniors has marked the record books again.
The Class of ’10 put the cap on a historic season yesterday afternoon at home with a 3-0 victory over Millikan. The Bruins ran out all nine seniors to start on Senior Day and came out with another shutout victory. That makes 66 goals for Wilson in league, and only two given up– the two goals in the tie with Poly.
The 11 shutout wins out of 12 league games is a school record, and the two goals against ties a school record. Wilson finishes 11-0-1 in league.
Junior Kim Albeno scored twice on two headers in the first half, and senior Candace Nicholson added a penalty kick goal of her own to round out the scoring.
Esperanza, San Clemente and El Toro are almost a lock for the 1,2,3 seed in the CIF Playoffs, but the Bruins have a viable claim to the fourth seed in the bracket. Unfortunately for the Bruins, so does Capo Valley and Santa Margarita.
We will all know on Monday what the bracket looks like, so come back to LBPOSTsports.com for the first-round match ups!
