They went to the half tied at zero, but the Panthers and Jaguars each scored once in the final 40 minutes to finish in a 1-1 tie. All of this on a field that played more like the old Plinko game on Price Is Right.
“There wasn’t much soccer being played,” said Cabrillo coach Pat Noyes. “You had to go over top and work the set pieces and throw ins… that’s how both goals were scored.”
After some good build up play and a free kick from Jordan’s Luis Frias, Jose Cendejas scored just five minutes into the second half. Cabrillo answered with just 15 minutes to play when Gabriel Borja sent home a beautiful volley from just outside the box.
With two games left against Compton the next two days, Cabrillo can clinch second place in the Moore League with two wins and a Wilson loss to Millikan on Friday. Jordan needs some help from Lakewood to make the playoffs as the fourth seed.
