10:00pm |  The Long Beach State track and field team closed out action on the second and final day of the UW Invitational Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.

The 49ers concluded their first indoor meet of the season with six individuals competing in three different events.

Senior Alex Freitas led the men as he finished 10th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.37. Freitas currently holds the indoor school record at 1:49.44, which he established in 2008.

Sophomore Mario Granville was LBSU’s second-best finisher in the 800 (1:56.44), while junior Jonathan Evans rounded out the trio with a time of 1:58.68.

The Beach had a pair of top 20 finishes in the women’s 3000-meter run. Freshman Annie Randall placed 16th overall after clocking in at 10:08.16, while sophomore Alisia Barajas was not far behind at 10:11.56. With those marks, Randall (sixth) and Barajas (ninth) also found themselves among the 49er all-time top 10.

Sophomore Jessica Barnard finished fourth in her section in the mile run with a mark of 5:09.74, which also puts her seventh in school history.

Long Beach State is back in action next Saturday (Feb. 6), when it heads to Flagstaff, Ariz., for the NAU Team Competition.
