7:00pm | The week for the Lakewood Lancers started with a flat performance against Poly. The result was a big loss, and coach Scott Manson saw it coming. “Before the Poly game I could tell and I kept telling them to pick it up… before tonight’s game after I gave them a little speech they let out a ‘wahoo’ and I knew they were ready.”
The Rams really never had a chance as the confident Lancers scored early and added two more in the second half to win, 3-0. Forwards Kassidy Hause and Kendahl Fisher led the way as Hause had two goals and Fisher scored once.
“It’s all about the positive attitude and confidence,” said Manson. “If we have it, we can be this kind of team that can play exciting soccer, score, and beat some good teams… if we don’t, we aren’t.”
Hause scored first on a long volley that deflected in off of the post, and Fisher scored early in the second half. Then about 20 minutes later, Hause scored what Manson called, “one of the best goals I’ve seen this year.”
The senior forward collected it at midfield and turned quickly. She dribbled down the middle of the field, beating four Millikan defenders, and capped it off with a blast from about 15 yards out.
Lakewood moves to 6-2-0 and will take on Cabrillo on Saturday.
