Sometimes high quality soccer is decided by the referee. Sometimes the referee isn’t what the coaches think they should be. And sometimes, two teams rise above the outside influence and battle on the pitch the way the beautiful game was meant to be played.
On Friday afternoon, Wilson traveled to Cabrillo and the two squads hit the above listed trifecta as an inconsistent whistle come into play one last time and Alexis Marin’s penalty kick goal in the 75th minute gave the Bruins a 2-1 victory to take their record to 4-0-0 in Moore League. Cabrillo falls to 1-2-1.
Wilson answered the question of their character early this week after giving up a late goal to Jordan and answering with a game winner. They are sit atop the Moore League with Millikan. Cabrillo answered the question of their heart after Coach Pat Noyes said they didn’t have enough in the loss to Poly with an energetic performance yesterday afternoon.
Bottom line, these teams have proved this week that they have what it takes to make a playoff run.
