Millikan vs. Wilson: With the score close at halftime, the Millikan Rams used a 10-2 run to close it out against the Wilson Bruins yesterday in Howard Lyons Gym.  The run gave the home team a 12-point lead, and they went on to win, 50-37.

The Rams were led by seniors Hilary Drinovsky in the middle and Mimi Patterson on the perimeter.  Drinovsky had points and Patterson led all scorers with 17.  Millikan lost to Jordan in overtime on Thursday because of poor execution down the stretch.  But back in the friendly confines they passed well (which opened up Drinovsky) and got out in transition (which opened up Patterson).

Samira Fields and Tiffany Bailey each scored 12 points for Wilson.  Both teams will take on Poly next with Wilson at home on Monday and Millikan on the road on Wednesday.

Poly vs. Lakewood: It was a day of firsts for Poly girls’ basketball, but in the end it was the same old story.  In their first Moore League game and first game in the Ron Palmer Pavillion at Poly High, the Jackrabbits used an 11-0 run in the first half and took care of Lakewood, 80-27.

It all started inside with junior Sheila Boykin and senior Ta’Nitra Byrd.  Boykin scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  The Jackrabbits outrebounded the Lancers, 38-15 for the game.  Aljinee Brunson led Lakewood with nine points and also grabbed four rebounds.
