The Lakewood Lancers surprised a lot of people with their deep run in the CIF Girls’ Tennis Playoffs, but they weren’t able to surprise top-seed San Marino as the Titans advance to final with a 12-6 win.

The Lancers were tied at 3 with San Marino after the first six sets.  They then trailed 7-5 after the next six sets, which was exactly what happened against Placentia Valencia on Tuesday in the Lakewood quarterfinal victory.  But the Titans turned on the burners and showed why they are the bracket favorite, winning five of the final six sets.

Moore League singles champion Suzy Tan performed well as the sophomore won twice in singles. Juniors Kelli Prowant and Mackenzie Thorpe won twice in doubles, as did freshmen Alexis Yeoman and Idalis Rideout.
