The Long Beach State men’s golf team travels to La Quinta for their second tournament in four days as they take part in The Prestige at PGA West hosted by UC Davis and Stanford. The 49ers will be among 13 teams (Central Florida, Hawaii, Pepperdine, Notre Dame, San Diego, Stanford, TCU, UC Davis, UCLA, Southern California, Washington and Vanderbilt) participating in this year’s tournament.

The three-day 54-hole tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,026 yard Stadium Course at PGA West. Opening round play is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m., followed by Monday’s second round at 1 p.m. and Tuesday’s final 18-holes starting at 8 a.m. All three days will begin with a shotgun start.

Senior Steve Gibson and Robbie Berton, sophomore Kevin Roy and freshmen Raymond Ho (Cerritos) andPhilip Chian (Covina) will be representing the 49ers at this year’s Prestige. Berton, a transfer from Hawaii and Chian, will be playing in their first tournament for LBSU.

The 49ers are coming off from their first tournament of the fall campaign in which LBSU finished in seventh place at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert. The 49ers recorded a 26-over 890 (298-286-306). Ho, playing in his first collegiate tournament, was the top player for The Beach as he carded a three-over 219 to tie for 15th.
