The Long Beach State women’s soccer team (4-5) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak this week as it hosts Pacific in its Big West Conference opener on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m. The 49ers then return to George Allen Field on Sunday (Oct. 4) when they take on UC Davis at 1 p.m.

Pacific enters Thursday’s match with a 6-3-2 overall record. The Tigers are led by Maricela Padilla and Angelica Figueroa, who have combined to score 12 of the team’s 22 goals. Jill Medigovich has been Pacific’s primary goalkeeper, compiling 31 saves, three shutouts and a 1.00 goals against average.

UC Davis is 5-2-1 on the season and will host Saint Mary’s on Friday (Oct. 2), before making the trip to Long Beach for its Big West opener. Rochelle Van Buskirk leads the Aggies in nearly every offensive category with nine goals, four assists and 22 points. 

Long Beach State leads in its all-time series with Pacific, 7-4-1. The 49ers claimed their fifth-straight victory against the Tigers by way of a 3-0 score in the 2008 Big West Tournament semifinals. 

LBSU also leads in its series with UC Davis, 3-2-0. The Beach has defeated the Aggies by a narrow 1-0 score in each of the last two years.
