Redondo rolled out an inviting carpet, as they unveiled their brand new turf field on Friday night—but Millikan wasn’t a kind guest, as they won an up-and-down match against the host Seahawks, 26-21.
It was another Alden Darby-fest, as the senior took the game over in the second half. Millikan was down 14-7 at halftime, when Darby was subbed in to play QB, in place of the Rams’ backup QB (who was replacing starter Paul Slater, who sat with a shoulder sprain). Darby didn’t complete a pass, but ran all over Redondo in the spread-option, as Millikan scored and scored, and scored again, taking a 26-14 lead before allowing a final touchdown to the Seahawks. The win now improves the Rams to a 3-0 start, and has them riding high with just one nonleague game left on the schedule. If they can win their home game against Fountain Valley next week (FV is also undefeated), they’ll be the only Moore League school to start the season with an unblemished record.
