The Long Beach Century Club welcomed Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball head coach Brian Gimmillaro for yet another pre-season discussion last night at The Grand Hotel.  The 25-year coaching veteran has been to his share of meetings, so he was ready and willing to answer questions after talking about his team, and selling some season tickets.

Many of the answers included the words, “I really like the spirit of this team.”  Gimmillaro talked about the Volleyball 101 event on August 15th, and opening night on August 28th.  Having to overcome the loss of two underclassman (Cat Highmark- transfer, Ya Chen Wang- family obligation) Gimmillaro was not shy to admit he knows health may be the biggest factor in 2009.

New Director of Marketing & Corporate Partnerships Dedan Brozino made mention of the Alumni Game scheduled for October, to which Gimmillaro replied candidly, “Yeah, we’ve got a lot of players coming back. Danielle Scott-Arruda, Misty May-Treanor… so we’re going to lose.”

Mike and JJ sat down with coach Gimmillaro after he was done shaking hands…

Come by The Grand next Tuesday @ 6pm for another Century Club meeting!
