One night after the Armada produced 20 hits, the Toros held the Fleet to only six as Long Beach fell 5-1 to Tucson on Monday at Hi Corbett Field. The Armada is now 18-17 while the Toros are 13-19.

Tucson starter Cibney Bello kept the Armada in check for seven innings. Bello (2-0) earned the win, giving up one run on six hits while striking out three and walking two.

Ben Fox took the loss, pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while walking two and throwing a wild pitch. Fox (3-2) did not strike out an opposing batter for the first time this season.

Shortstop Omar Bramasco went 0-for-3 and was hit by a pitch as his 24 game hitting streak, which dated back to May 31, was snapped.

After the Armada scored in the third on a Matt Edgecombe ground ball to plate Josh Womack, the Toros tied the game, 1-1, in the fourth inning when Andre Marshall tripled and Jim Rushford singled him home.

Tucson then dusted Fox for three runs in the fifth inning. Luis Apodaca led off the inning with a double, and Ryan Priddy singled him to third. After Fox walked Skip Adams to load the bases, Apodaca scored on a wild pitch for a 2-1 Toros lead. Priddy scored on a Dustin Yount sac fly, and Marshall singled to cash Adams for a 4-1 Tucson lead.

The Toros added another run in the sixth when Mayobanex Santana advanced to home on an overthrown ball from right field by J.J. Sherrill.

The Fleet returns to Blair Field for a three game series against the Chico Outlaws beginning Tuesday, July 7 at 7:05pm. Hideki Irabu is scheduled to start for the Armada. Tuesday will be Michael Jackson Remembrance Night at Blair Field.
