Paul Goydos has had worse days, to be sure—but not many on the golf course.  Leading the field after 16 holes, Goydos bogeyed the final two to fall into third place, forced to watch a two-man playoff for the Texas Open title.  Zach Johnson went on to win the playoff and his second consecutive Texas Open.

“For 70 holes I did really good,” Goydos told the AP. “Didn’t hit a good putt on 17 and didn’t hit a good shot on 18. And guys who play like that will do it.” Goydos still earned $353,000 for the weekend of work; John Mallinger, also of Long Beach State, finished in a tie for 47th, after two weekend scores of 72.  He took home $15,177 in earnings.
