
In an amazing change of events near the end of the season, Long Beach State managed to fight off opponents in the Men’s Novice 4+, Men’s Lightweight Varsity 4+, and the Women’s Lightweight Varsity 4+, making their way into WIRA’s grand finals on Sunday. (WIRA is the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and their Championship Regatta was held last weekend). We will update you on their Sunday performances as we get more info.
The Men’s Novice 4+ faced off against Loyola Marymount, Seattle Pacific, Univ. of the Pacific, Washington State, and placed second in the heat. Sunday they faced off against Lewis & Clark Univ., Seattle Pacific, Western Washington Univ., Orange Coast College, and Loyola Marymount.
The Men’s Lightweight Varsity 4+ faced off against Univ. of the Pacific, UC Santa Barbara, Washington State, and placed second in the heat. Sunday they faced off against Cal Berkeley, Loyola Marymount, Sonoma State, Univ. of the Pacific, and Washington State.
The Women’s Lightweight Varsity 4+ faced off against UC Irvine, Cal Berkeley, Willamette Univ., and placed second in their heat. Sunday they face off Cal Berkeley, UC Irvine, Willamette, Pacific Lutheran, and Western Washington Univ.
The weather was wet but okay for rowing, and the team says that a good number of fans drove up to Sacramento for the weekend—that’s pretty impressive! Stay tuned…
