The Long Beach State women’s basketball team presented Miller Children’s Hospital with a check on behalf of the 49er Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The money was raised through the second annual Big West Charity Coin Drive. Almost all of LBSU’s athletic teams participated as the unified effort by the SAAC raised a total of $2,109.50.
Over $1,000 of the total amount raised was donated to LBSU’s chosen charity, Miller Children’s Hospital. The remainder of the money was donated to St. Joseph’s Medical Foundation Breast Cancer Research Center, which was the chosen charity of Pacific, the overall winner.
As a whole, the Big West schools raised $14,672.69, easily exceeding the goal of $10,000 the SAAC wished to raise and topping the $8,241.39 that the inaugural coin drive raised a year ago.
