Sometimes, it takes a few games to get your legs under you. The Compton Tarbabes baseball team continued to experience some growing pains over the weekend, falling 23-1 to Sunny Hills on Saturday. Missing starting pitcher Daniel Gutierrez and third baseman Rodrigo Estrada, the Tarbabe lineup was spread thin, and struggled to find an answer to Sunny Hills’ power hitting lineup. The scoring started early when Sunny Hills’ leadoff hitter took an 0-2 pitch deep to right center to score an in-park home run. Sunny Hills’ pitcher stayed on the bump all game, striking out 13 and giving up just three hits. Pedro Vanega and Marcel Dorn had solid games for the Tarbabes, whose next game is against Irvine.
Be sure to check out the first annual Hub City Classic at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Saturday, March 21st—Compton, Centennial, and Dominguez will be playing for Compton bragging rights, and some other cool festivities have been planned.
