The Long Beach City College softball team had its six-game winning streak come to an end following the Vikings 2-0 South Coast Conference loss to visiting East Los Angeles College on Thursday.

The Vikings (11-6, 1-1) totaled eight hits in the contest but stranded 13 runners on base. LBCC left the bases loaded and failed to score in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.

Sophomore Christine Gonzalez earned the loss to fall to 9-4 overall. She gave up single runs in the third and sixth innings and scattered five hits in the complete-game effort. Gonzalez struck out seven and walked just two.

Gonzalez (2 for 2), sophomore first baseman Vanessa Samudio (2 for 4), and freshman third baseman Valentina Nabayan (2 for 4) all had two hits each to lead LBCC at the plate.

Vanessa Salinas picked up the shutout win for East L.A. (9-4, 1-1). She went the distance and allowed eight hits and struck out six.
