The Long Beach State track and field team had two athletes, both of whom had top 10 finishes, compete on the men’s side of the University of Washington Open Meet Sunday afternoon at Dempsey Indoor.
Junior Alex Freitas concluded a successful weekend by taking top honors in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:20.13. One day earlier, Freitas had established an NCAA provisional mark in the 800m (1:50.25) at the Husky Classic.
Freshman Raul Arcos took part in the 800-meter run where he crossed the finish line in 1 minute, 56.64 seconds to place sixth overall.
The Beach will take next weekend off as it prepares for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor championships, which will be held at UW’s Dempsey Indoor, Feb. 27-28.
