The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team continued its unbeaten streak with a three-game sweep of visiting San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday night.
The Vikings won the non-conference match by scores of 30-22, 30-19, and 30-28 to improve to 3-0 on the season. The loss dropped San Diego Mesa to 0-4.
LBCC overpowered Mesa with aggressive play at the net. After cruising to wins in the opening games, head coach Randy Totorp emptied the bench for his reserves in game three. Sophomore outside hitter Casey Bennett led LBCC with10 kills. He added an ace and a block. Sophomore setter Chuck Chamberlain posted seven kills and two blocks, while sophomore libero Tyler Mullen chipped in with a team-high nine digs.
Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Feb. 13) when it hosts Irvine Valley College in a 6 p.m. non-conference match.
