Here we go again.  After leading his team in points for a win at home and a loss on the road, senior Donovan Morris has been named the Big West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The San Bernardino native averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a win over Pepperdine and a double-overtime loss at San Francisco. The 6-foot-3 guard made 14-of-25 shots (56.0 percent), 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) 3-pointers and 8-of-9 free throws (88.9 percent) in the two games.

In an 80-61 win over Pepperdine last Wednesday, Morris led The Beach with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.  His teammates did most of the offensive work in the first half, but D-Mo poured in 12 of his 20 in the second half to help the 49ers pull away from the Waves.

In Saturday’s double-overtime loss, Morris scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting and pulled down a season-best eight rebounds while handing out five assists.

With the back-to-back 20-plus point games, Morris has now scored 20 or more points in five straight games. He had 20 in the 49ers comeback win over Weber State, 24 in the double-overtime win at Idaho State and 30 in the win over New Mexico State.
