There’re a million things going on in Long Beach you should know about.  There’re also a million things going on in JJ’s head that you should know about.  Okay, maybe you don’t need to know, but if we cut out all the things we didn’t need, where would we be?  Really?  So, every now and then, you can come here, waste some time and read my thoughts.  Make sure you leave your thoughts as well…

Sports are a joke.

It’s hard to hear, I know. But really, sports mean little compared to life’s true joys like friends, family and tanks of gas that seem to last forever.  Sports won’t make you live longer or make anyone love you.  Like Sonny says in A Bronx Tale, when was the last time Mickey Mantle paid your bills?

That being said, today I woke up before the sun did to finally see LBPostSports’ official launch.  On Sunday morning, after an extremely late Saturday night, I brewed coffee and braved a hangover for the Everton v. Liverpool match, the Meyerside Derby.  My last two weekends have been basketball first, and whatever else second.

Maybe I’m a joke?

No.  I refuse to believe that.  This is my life and my pursuit of happiness, and I know what makes me happy.  The love of my friends and family makes me happy.  Sunday afternoons that contain NFL football and MLB playoff baseball make me happy.  But you know what makes me ecstatic?  When my friends and family watch those games with me.

Sports are nothing without the people you share them with.

I’m ready to share some sports with you, my fellow Long Beachian.  With the launch of LBPostSports.com, we Long Beach sports fans start a new relationship together.  Make sure you read, listen, and comment.

Ignoring local sports is the joke.  This sports community is our community.  It is what we make it.
