12:45am | Long Beach State men’s basketball coach Dan Monson announced Wednesday the signing of three high school players to National Letters of Intent. Deng Deng of West Valley, Utah, Branford Jones of Missouri City, Texas, and Javion Watson of San Diego will join the 49ers next fall after finishing their high school senior seasons.
The National Letters of Intent organization was created in 1964 with participating institutions providing a binding agreement with the student athlete that will guarantee one year of full-time academic attendance as well as athletic financial aid.
“We are excited to add three freshman perimeter players to our family who we feel compliment the players returning next year and will solidify our perimeter for years to come,” Monson said. “All three have unique skill sets that will immediately help us. We are excited that the one quality in which they all have in common is the ability to shoot the ball. Complimenting our front court will now be a priority for us with our remaining two scholarships.”
