1:00pm | A very good summer for Casper Ware continued its upward trajectory over the weekend.
The Long Beach State senior guard – and reigning Big West Player of the Year – had been turning heads through the offseason with his impressive play against NBA stars galore in Los Angeles’ famed Drew League. He dropped 43 points in one game and was recently named the league’s Player of the Week.
But Ware and 49er teammate Edis Dervisevic had a hand in new Drew League fame when they teamed up with LeBron James for a spirited run. Ware found the two-time NBA MVP for several buckets, while James hit Dervisevic with an eye-popping no-look pass and a graceful pick-and-roll.
All in a day’s work as the 49ers prepare for another run at their goal of a Big West Conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth in the 2011-12 season.
