The Long Beach Poly girls volleyball team kept their championship dreams alive on Tuesday night, defeating the Redondo Union Sea Hawks for the second time this season and earning a trip to the State Championship game this weekend.
The game came down to the wire in a five-set thriller that ended with the Jackrabbits (39-2) making a final surge and winning 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 19-17. They had also defeated the Red Hawks (32-9) just ten days ago to win the CIF Championship at Cypress College.
Poly, the No. 1 ranked team in the entire nation according to MaxPreps.com, now makes their move up north to take on Palo Alto High School (40-1) at San Jose State University this Saturday, December 4 at 7:00pm for the CIF-SS State Championship.
