UPDATED Monday | Playoff brackets for the CIF Southern Section Championships have been released, and all four Moore League teams that made the cut have an extremely tough road ahead of them. All games will take place at 7:00pm this Friday.
Moore League champion Long Beach Poly (8-2, 6-0) will host Mater Dei (6-4, 3-2) after the perennial juggernaut finished third in the Trinity League this season.
Moore League runner-up Lakewood (9-1, 5-1) will host San Clemente (8-2, 3-1) after finishing second in the South Coast League.
Long Beach Jordan and first-year head coach Thomas Barnes will visit the bracket’s No. 2 overall seed in Servite (10-0, 5-0), champions of the extremely difficult Trinity League this season.
Wilson High (6-4, 3-3) has a similarly difficult matchup with the bracket’s No. 1 overall seed, Mission Viejo (10-0, 4-0), champions of the South Coast League.
Friday | All three top-ranked high school football teams ended the Moore League schedule with victories, as we say goodbye to another regular season and say hello to the CIF Playoffs next week. Long Beach Poly and Lakewood solidified their already stellar resumes with big victories, while Jordan pulled out a close one at Cabrillo to help Wilson leapfrog into the postseason.
