From reports by LBSU

Three members of the Long Beach State track and field team, hurdler Kristen Kiefer, triple jumper Miia Mobley and pole vaulter Jill Reynolds, were each named to the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association national all-academic teams. In addition, the women’s team earned national team honors with a 3.11 cumulative GPA.

None of this information comes as much of a surprise, given the traditionally impressive performance of LBSU’s athletes in the classroom.

Reynolds was a three-time regional qualifier in the pole vault and three-time All-Big West selection, winning the event in 2006. She carried a 3.44 cumulative GPA throughout her four year career as a kinesiology major and finished her career second at LBSU in the all-time in the event.

Mobley, the school-record holder in the triple jump, also reached Regionals last years as a junior, following a gold medal winning jump at the Big West Championships. Mobley, who has yet to declare her major, has a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

Kiefer, a two-sport athlete who was named second team All-Big West in soccer as a freshman last year, was a regional qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles in the spring. The liberal studies major has a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
