The Long Beach State men’s and women’s golf teams travel to Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii for the second annual Turtle Bay Resort Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii. The three-day tournament begins on Monday, Nov. 2, with all three rounds beginning at 10:30 a.m. PST.
Men’s first and second rounds will take place at the par-72, 7,218 yard Arnold Palmer Course and final round action taking place at the par-72, 6,535 yard George Fazio Course. The women’s first and second rounds will begin on the Fazio Course (6,261 yards) and the final 18 holes finishing up on the Palmer Course (6,361 yards).
A total of 11 teams will be competing in the men’s tournament (British Columbia, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, BYU- Hawaii, Air Force, Illinois, Georgia State, Hawaii, San Diego State, Santa Clara, Osaka Gakuin of Japan).
On the women’s side, there are 18 teams that will be competing over the next three days (BYU, California, Gonzaga, Hawaii, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Oregon State, Oral Roberts, San Diego State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Oregon, Toledo, Tulsa, UC Davis, UCLA, Southern California, Washington).
The 49er men’s team competed in the inaugural event as they finished in 13th place with an 872 (290-292-290). Sophomore Kevin Roy, playing as an individual, tied for third with a 209 (70-70-69), while senior Steve Gibson was the top player for The Beach as he tied for 14th with a score of 212 (70-73-69).
