Kris Honel (2-1) pitched seven strong innings to record his first win at Blair Field and help the Fleet sail past the Roadrunners 6-1 Thursday night. Long Beach is now 13-15 in the second half and 33-33 on the season.

Long Beach blew the game open in the home half of the fifth. With two outs and a 2-1 lead, Omar Bramasco was at first base. Steve Moss walked followed by a J.J. Sherrill RBI double to extend the lead to 3-1. With runners in scoring position, Andy Bouchie hit a shot up the middle to cashed in Moss and Bramasco, giving Long Beach a 5-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth the Fleet added to their lead on three walks and a base hit, pushing the lead to 6-1 at the end of six innings.

That would be all Honel needed. Through seven innings of work, he allowed just one run on four hits, walking three and striking out one to improve to 2-1 as a member of the Fleet.

Rusty pitched well in his two innings of relief work to shut the door on the Roadrunners, clinching the series win over St. George.

Long Beach hits the road to face this same St. George team in a three game series in Utah beginning tomorrow. Listen to Josh Feldman as he has the road broadcasts for the Fleet.
