Wilson started the game with a lead-off double by Keith White and an RBI single by Daniel DeWolf, then loaded the bases with two outs; but the Canyon pitcher bore down and got a pop up to short to end the threat, and that was all Wilson could get offensively, falling 5-1 in the Consolation Championship of the Loara Tournament.
Canyon’s ace allowed only three batters over the minimum in the next six innings, as the Bruins went 1-2-3 in four of the next six innings of work. Canyon answered with two runs in the first and two more in the second and never looked back. Chase DeJong took the loss for the Bruins, after giving up 4 runs in 3 innings of work.
The Bruins play Tustin in a doubleheader on Monday. The first game will be played at Skip Rowland Field, with the nightcap game moving over to Blair Field for a 6:00 pm start time.
