In the last five years the Compton Baseball program amassed a 2-58 record in the Moore League.  In 2010, they’re 2-0 after a 16-2 victory over Cabrillo last night.  Nothing like equaling your win total for five years in two games, but that’s the story, and head coach Brian Reed is sticking to it.

“Oh man, I’m living all kinds of dreams right now,” laughed the third-year coach who grabbed his third Moore League win last night.  “I might be more excited than the kids, I mean, food even tastes better right now… but we have to take it one day at a time.  We have to stay hot and hungry.”

The Tarbabes have recently let teams back into games after grabbing early leads (like on Wednesday against Jordan) but it was the opposite on Friday night at the MLB Academy.  “I was getting nervous, and I went from being a baseball coach to being more like a basketball or football coach,” said Reed.  “I really pushed them and they responded.”

Compton turned up the heat in the third inning and put two on the board which opened the flood gates.  In the next two innings the Tarbabes put together two 2-out rallies that pushed across five runs apiece.

Jesse Frausto pitched a fantastic game by keeping the ball low and frustrating Jaguar hitters, while Alvaro Perez and Michael Joiner had multiple hits to pace the Tarbabes.

Compton has a bye on Tuesday and will take on Lakewood next Friday.  Cabrillo falls to 0-2 and will play Lakewood on Wednesday.
