With an NFL Pro Bowler on hand and a great first day of baseball, Cabrillo’s first annual Easter Tourney was an unqualified success; unfortunately the home team fell to Serra, 9-2.
DeSean Jackson threw out the first pitch and stuck around to sign autographs and take pictures with fans, then to watch some great baseball on Saturday of Easter weekend.
Cabrillo took a 2-0 lead after Louie Terrazas stole second and third, Wes Madera was walked, and Christopher Salinas drove them both in with a double. Serra pitcher Dominique Smith struck out eight in six innings, holding Cabrillo to two hits. Ron Miller’s three-run homer in the fourth gave Serra the lead, which they built on for the win.
