Good things come to those who wait, and the Jordan Panthers had to wait a full round of games for their first Moore League win, but it all worked out as head coach Marc Prager called the 7-4 victory at Compton, “a good team win.”
Senior pitcher David Aispuro earned his second win of the year and sophomore Christian Hurtado earned the save as the two combined to strikeout ten Tarbabes. Other youngsters got into the action as well as freshman Phillip Berman and Robert DeLeon both had two hits and two RBI.
Berman had a go-ahead double late driving in two and DeLeon was on base all four trips to the plate with two hits and two walks. Senior shortstop Robby Hurtado was 2-for-3 with two runs scored an RBI and three stolen bases. Junior outfielder Andres Munoz was 2-for-2 with a walk.
“We had a game plan and stuck with it,” said Prager. “We were very patient, in this game and this season… it was a very good team win with ten hits and ten walks… trust me, it was nice to see.”
What’s nice to see is a team with sticktoitiveness. It’s nice to see a group of young baseball players learn first hand how this game of failure can grind you down, and then get the payoff after all the hard work. And of course, it’s always nice to see some SLOW BUTTER!
Jordan is now 1-6 in the Moore League, and Compton falls to 2-5
