While all the Moore League eyes were on Blair Field last night, Millikan and Wilson took care of their business to finish second and third in league… CLICK HERE for the final standings box
Millikan 14, Jordan 1
The Rams scored ten runs in the first three innings, and it all started with leadoff hitter Paul Slater’s first trip to the plate. The senior (2-for-3, RBI, 3R) sent what looked like a single to right field, but got out of the box quickly and stretched it into a double. It was a play that defines Slater’s style, and the type of play the Millikan coaching staff loves to see.
“He gets us going, he’s our catalyst,” said Millikan head coach Scott Glasser of Slater. “This was a good game for us, a team win… headed into a the playoffs with a seven-game winning streak, we’re where we need to be.”
Senior Josh Frye continued to dominate on the mound and cruised through four innings giving up four hits while the heart of the lineup James Peale, Jordan Ybarra, Joshua Valdovinos and Avery Flores combined to go 8-for-14 with eight RBI and five runs scored.
Wilson 8, Compton 0
The Bruins and Tarbabes overcame a power outage to get the game in, with enough time to make it to Blair Field and see the final innings that decided the fate of the Moore League.
