7:01pm | The Long Beach City College Vikings swept the Pasadena City College Lancers over the weekend in their three-game set to maintain the top spot in the South Coast Conference with a 7-2 SCC record.
For the second straight game, LBCC won a 2-1 pitching duel, this time between winning pitcher and lefty Kenny Uyetake (8 IP, 4 hits, 1 unearned run, 8 Ks) over PCC’s A.J. Smouse (9 IP, 7 hits, 1 earned run, 6 Ks).
LBCC closer Michael Kerman threw a 1-2-3 in the ninth for the save as the Vikings pitching pair retired the last 12 PCC batters in order.
An RBI groundout to third by shortstop Anthony Salas in the fourth inning proved to be the game-winning run.
Jose Serna was 2-for-4 with a double for PCC.
