The Long Beach State Club Baseball team opened up conference play this past weekend against UCLA at home. After losing the first game 3-2 Long Beach came back to win the final two games of the series 7-4 and 11-4. The 49ers improve their overall record to 21-4 and look to keep on winning. Their next game is scheduled for March 13, 2010 at Loyola Marymount University.
In other news, shortstop Dustin Gramenz was honored this past week by the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) as player of the week. Gramenz played a crucial part in the sweep of #5 ranked Weber State by going 7 for 9 at the plate with 2 doubles, 1 homerun, 6 RBI’s, 3 runs, and 2 walks.
